| Obverse description | Crude hammered field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription occupying the central area of the flan, with individual words or phrases disposed across several lines in the characteristic Maghribi calligraphic style. The legend references the ruling sultan Abu'l-Abbas Ahmad II and the mint of Fes. The flan is irregular and slightly scalloped at the periphery, consistent with hand-struck copper coinage of early Saadian Morocco. Surface shows dark brown patina with areas of green cuprite oxidation. |
