| Obverse description | Nude youth riding horse to the right, his body turned slightly forward in a dynamic posture, crowning the horse with a wreath or raising his right arm; a cornucopia appears in the upper right field as a symbol of prosperity. Below the horse, the Greek magistrate legend ΤΑΓΕΑΣ (Tageas) is inscribed in the exergue. The composition is rendered with fine Hellenistic naturalism, emphasizing the musculature of both rider and mount. |
