Obverse description Nude youth on horseback riding to the right, raising his right hand in a gesture of victory or salute; the horse is rendered in a walking pose with fine anatomical detail. The magistrate's name ΦΙΛΙCΚΟC appears in the lower field or exergue in Greek characters, identifying the issuing authority. The composition is rendered in high relief with characteristic Tarentine engraving quality, reflecting the city's accomplished die-cutting tradition of the early third century BC.
