Obverse description Nude warrior on horseback trotting left, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet; in his right hand he holds the horse's rein, while his left arm bears a round shield and a couched spear. The figure is rendered with fine Italiote workmanship characteristic of the Tarentine series. The letter Δ appears in the lower field beneath the horse, serving as a magistrate's or workshop control mark.

Reverse description The mythological founder Phalanthos, depicted entirely nude in the Archaic-to-Classical tradition, rides a dolphin leaping to the left; in his raised right hand he carries a trident over his shoulder, while his left hand steadies his pose against the dolphin's body. The ethnic legend ΤΑΡΑΣ is divided to the right of the central device. In the lower field, the control letter K appears above a stylised wave pattern, indicating a specific emission within the Tarentine coinage sequence.
