Reverse description A large Delphic tripod with an elevated neck and lion's-paw feet occupies the central field, rendered in bold incuse relief. The bowl of the tripod is surmounted by a decorative finial. To the right of the tripod, an olive sprig with leaves extends upward into the field. The ethnic inscription Ϙ ΡΟ, an abbreviated form of ΚΡΟΤΩΝ in archaic Achaean script using the koppa (Ϙ), appears to the left of the tripod, identifying the issuing city of Kroton.
