Reverse description Facing barley ear with detailed grain and prominent central stalk, the ears of the plant radiating diagonally to either side in a highly stylised fan arrangement, set against a plain field. To the left, a small leaping dog or feline figure is depicted as a secondary symbol, with the ethnic legend ΜΕΤΑ inscribed vertically in the left field. A small secondary ear of grain appears to the right. The composition is typical of the canonical Metapontine stater reverse, symbolising the agricultural prosperity of the region.
