NGZ — Notenbankgeräte GmbH — manufactured currency-handling and authentication equipment for the Bundesbank and other central banks. These test notes were produced in-house as calibration media for sorting, counting, and verification machines, not as currency or as public-facing specimens. The paper and print specifications were engineered to match the mechanical properties of genuine Bundesbank issues, which is precisely what makes them useful to equipment manufacturers and what occasionally confuses collectors encountering them for the first time.
