Reverse description A detailed relief reproduction of the celebrated coronation scene from Jacques-Louis David's monumental painting depicting the Sacre de Napoléon Ier, representing the moment Napoleon crowns Empress Joséphine at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris on 2 December 1804. The composition faithfully replicates David's sweeping neoclassical tableau, with numerous courtly figures arranged within the cathedral's opulent interior. The engraver's attribution H.THIÉBAUD D'AP. L.DAVID appears as a legend in the lower portion of the field, identifying both the medallist and his pictorial source.
