Obverse description Griffin head facing left with open jaws, depicted in archaic Greek style with characteristic hooked beak and alert expression; a seal is shown swimming upward behind the griffin's head in the field. The design is rendered in bold, confident relief typical of early Ionian electrum coinage, with the motifs serving as civic emblems of Phokaia.

Reverse description A deeply struck quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, divided into four triangular sections by two diagonal raised ridges meeting at the centre, creating a characteristic mill-sail or windmill pattern within a recessed square punch. The incuse is sharply defined with irregular surfaces, consistent with early archaic hammered technique used in western Anatolian electrum coinage.
