Reverse description Right-facing bust of Robert Edward Lee in uniform with a bow tie, rendered in high relief against a lightly textured field. The legend ROBERT EDWARD LEE arcs along the upper rim, the birth and death years 1807 and 1870 appear to the right of the portrait, and the titles GENERAL EDUCATOR PATRIOT are inscribed along the lower rim. The engraver's initials ES appear in the lower left field.
