Obverse description Draped bust of Rinaldo d'Este facing right, with long flowing wig rendered in fine detail, set within a beaded inner border. The Latin legend RAYN . I . MV . R . EC . D runs around the periphery, abbreviated from the ruler's full titulature. The portrait is executed in a late Baroque style typical of early eighteenth-century Italian ducal coinage. The field around the bust is largely plain, with the beaded border providing a clear frame.
