| Reverse description | The reverse displays a central field of multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic script within a raised circular border, recording the name of the ruler Sahlan ibn Maktum along with titles and mint or date formulae. A circular marginal legend in Arabic script surrounds the central inscription, separated by a raised inner ring. The wide, irregularly shaped flan bears the typical surface texture of hammered provincial silver coinage, with minor flat spots and flow lines visible across the field. The epigraphy is rendered in a bold, somewhat provincial Kufic style consistent with late 10th-century coinage of the Hindu Kush region. |
