Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic religious legend arranged within a single inner circle, with the Shahada and royal titulature of Mahmud ibn Sebuktegin distributed across several lines. A secondary circular band surrounds the inner legend, itself enclosed by a further concentric ring carrying an additional marginal Arabic inscription. The broad outer field is striated with fine radiating lines characteristic of the hammered fabric, and the irregular flan edge bears further traces of the marginal legend. The overall design follows the purely epigraphic Abbasid-derived tradition, with no figural or geometric ornament.
