| Obverse description | Two-line Persian poetic legend in elegant Nastaliq script occupying the central field, reading: 'Tā zar-o sīm dar jahān bāshad / Sikka-yi Sāhib al-Zamān bāshad' (meaning: 'As long as gold and silver exist in the world / May the coin belong to the Lord of the Age'). The inscription, a traditional Safavid-era formulaic couplet invoking sovereignty, is rendered in bold relief against a flat, undecorated field. The irregular hammered flan displays the characteristic uneven edges typical of hand-struck Iranian gold coinage of this period. |
