| Obverse description | Jugate busts of Ptolemy II Philadelphos and his sister-wife Arsinoe II facing right, both diademed and draped; Ptolemy II in the foreground wearing a diadem with flowing ribbons, his curly hair rendered in fine detail, and Arsinoe II partially visible behind him, also diademed with elaborately dressed hair. Both busts are rendered in the refined Hellenistic court style characteristic of Alexandrian die-cutters. The legend ΑΔΕΛΦΩΝ (meaning 'of the siblings') arcs across the upper field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
