Reverse description Central field bearing a multi-line inscription in thuluth script arranged within a circular inner border, giving the ruler's title and name — Sultan Shah Ismail — together with the Hijri date 928 and the mint name Shiraz. The legends are boldly struck with deeply incised characters, the date numeral prominently placed in the central zone. A marginal legend in thuluth script runs within the outer border, continuing the epigraphic programme of the coin. The irregular hammered flan displays typical Safavid workmanship with a slightly convex strike.
