Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Anastasius I facing left, rendered in the late Roman imperial tradition. The emperor wears a prominent pearl diadem adorned with a central cross, with elaborately rendered hair visible beneath. The paludamentum is fastened at the shoulder with a fibula decorated with pendilia, and a beaded torque is visible at the neck. The effigy displays fine die-cutting characteristic of early Byzantine silver coinage from the Constantinople mint. The imperial legend runs clockwise around the bust within the field.
