Obverse description
The obverse features a landscape of a lake and mountains with the sun half-way above the horizon. A Native American community occupies the lakeshore in the background. The foreground depicts a Native American on a clifftop looking upon a bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) flying overhead.
The reverse features a mountain beside a lakeshore with rays emerging from behind. The landscape is superimposed by the arms of the State of Maine, under which is two eastern white pine (Pinus strobus) branches. The words and design are surrounded by a circle of five-pointed stars.
