Reverse description The reverse features a centrally suspended Iron Cross bearing a crown at top, the cipher W, and the date 1914 in its center, hanging from a ribbon tied to intertwined laurel and oak branches that spread across the upper field. Below the cross, a two-line inscription reads WELTKRIEG / 1914 in bold relief lettering, with the fineness mark 990 struck in the lower exergue. The design is framed by the same ornamental beaded and scrollwork border as the obverse.
