Reverse description Allegorical scene in high relief depicting Princess Victoria enthroned on a rocky outcrop at centre, attended by four female personifications: Britannia (helmeted, with anchor) and Hibernia to her left, and Scotia (with harp) to her right, all joining hands over a wreath. A recumbent lion bearing a Union shield occupies the foreground below the throne. Sailing ships appear in the distant background at either side. The date MAY 24·1837 is inscribed in the lower exergue, with the maker's signature T. HALLIDAY. FECIT. below. The upper legend curves around the border.
