Obverse description
A relief image of the monument to Peter I in the Peter and Paul Fortress, opened in 1991 by sculptor Mikhail Shemyakin. The face is based on the authentic wax mask of Peter`s face and the `Wax Person` made by B. Rastrelli and kept in the Hermitage. The sculptor deliberately increased the proportions of the emperor`s body by 1.5 times, which makes the image seem grotesque. In the background is the building of the Ober-officer guardhouse, made using the laser matting method.
