Obverse description Two conjoined circular medallions in high relief bear the facing busts of Queen Victoria (left, in profile facing right) and Emperor Napoleon III (right, in profile facing left), flanked by floral sprays of roses and thistles. Above, a spread eagle with wings outstretched surmounts a crowned sceptre emitting radiating rays, while a decorative star ornament appears below the junction of the two medallions. The legend WELCOME TO ENGLAND appears in the lower field, with the maker's signature T.R.PINCHES.LONDON. in the exergue.

Reverse description The reverse field depicts a fasces wreathed in laurel at centre, flanked by two groups of crossed flags — the French tricolour and the British Union Jack — with a ribbon banner inscribed UNITED above.
