Reverse description A detailed panoramic view of Trafalgar Square in London, dominated by Nelson's Column rising prominently in the centre, surmounted by a standing figure of Nelson. The National Gallery facade and St Martin-in-the-Fields church are depicted in the background, flanked by equestrian statues. Two fountains and sphinx-like figures occupy the foreground at the column's stepped base. The engraver's signature E. AVERN. F appears in the lower right field. The date 21 OCTOBER 1844 is inscribed in the exergue, with the commemorative legend arcing around the upper border.
