| Obverse description | Mature veiled bust of Queen Victoria facing left, wearing a crown and elaborate jewelled dress, in high relief. The legend VICTORIA QUEEN AND EMPRESS curves along the rim at top and bottom, with the commemorative inscription TO COMMEMORATE THE 60TH YEAR OF HER MAJESTY'S REIGN divided in the field on either side of the effigy. The engraver's signature F. BOWCHER. F appears in small lettering below the truncation. |

| Reverse description | Central shield bearing the arms of the Australian colonies, quartered with a merino sheep, a sailing ship, crossed pick and shovel, and a sheaf of wheat, flanked by decorative scrollwork. The shield is encircled by a wreath composed of roses, thistles, shamrocks and wattle, with AUSTRALIA inscribed above the shield within the wreath. Below the shield, a crowned royal escutcheon with the maker's name SPINK LONDON in the exergue. The circular legend MAY THE BLESSING OF GOD CONTINUE TO CROWN YOUR GLORIOUS REIGN runs along the outer rim. |
