Reverse description The reverse is designed in the form of a shamrock, with each of the three leaves containing inscribed text relating to key events in O'Connell's life. At the centre of the shamrock is a crowned harp. The date 1875 appears prominently at the lower centre, with the legend O'CONNELL CENTENARY arcing along the bottom. Celtic knotwork ornaments the spaces between the leaves, and the engraver's name W.T. PARKES appears at the base.
