Obverse description Seven railroad tracks radiate in perspective from a central vanishing point, with a steam locomotive at left and a rail station at right, set against a mountainous landscape. Two sprigs of laurel flank the dates 1776 and 1976 in the lower field. The legend arcs around the upper rim and the word BICENTENNIAL appears along the lower rim.

Reverse description A ring of thirteen incuse five-pointed stars frames the outer border, with the commemorative legends arcing around the upper and lower rim. The central field depicts a steam locomotive emitting billowing smoke, surrounded by four labeled vignettes of historic village buildings: B&M Station Bondsville at upper left, Union Evangelical Church Three Rivers at upper right, No. 1 Mill Thorndike at lower left, and First High School Depot Village at lower center.
