Obverse description The Birmingham Mint company logo occupies the central field, depicting a seated coiner at a screw press with a balance scale above, flanked by a small portrait bust to the right and the mintmark 'H' to the left, all within a circular surround. A ribbon banner in the exergue bears the founding date 1794, and crossed laurel sprigs appear at the base. The legend 'THE BIRMINGHAM MINT' arcs around the upper periphery.
