Reverse description The reverse displays the word OHIO prominently in the central field, above the inscription ATTAINED STATEHOOD / MARCH 1, 1803, flanked by two olive branches in relief. At the base, a scroll cartouche bears the legend 17TH STATE, with the Franklin Mint mintmark (FM) below. In the upper portion, a circular medallion depicts the state flower, the Scarlet Carnation, surrounded by stars and the legend SCARLET CARNATION.
