Reverse description The reverse displays a central medallion at top containing a relief rose, the state flower, encircled by stars and inscribed NEW YORK above and ROSE below. Below the medallion, the inscription NEW YORK / ATTAINED STATEHOOD / JULY 26, 1788 appears in the field, flanked by laurel branches. A ribbon cartouche at the bottom bears the legend 11TH STATE, with the Franklin Mint mark in the lower exergue. A beaded rim surrounds the entire design.
