Obverse description The obverse features a relief map of New Hampshire in the central field, overlaid with a detailed depiction of the Old Man of the Mountain rock formation at upper left and pine trees at lower left. Reverse description The reverse displays the bold legend NEW HAMPSHIRE in the central field, below which is inscribed ATTAINED STATEHOOD / JUNE 21, 1788. A scroll cartouche at the bottom bears the legend 9TH STATE, flanked by laurel branches in high relief. At the top, a circular medallion depicts the state flower (Purple Lilac) surrounded by stars, with the legend NEW HAMPSHIRE / PURPLE LILAC. The Franklin Mint mark (FM) appears below the scroll.
