Obverse description The obverse features a relief map of the state of Delaware occupying the central field, with the capital city Dover marked by a star. Overlaid on the map is a stylized depiction of the state flower, the peach blossom, rendered as a branching spray with rounded blooms in high relief. The legend DELAWARE arcs across the upper field and THE FIRST STATE along the lower periphery, both in bold raised lettering.

Reverse description The reverse displays a central circular medallion in the upper field depicting a peach blossom sprig in relief, surrounded by a ring of stars and inscribed DELAWARE and PEACH BLOSSOM. Below, flanked by symmetrical laurel branches, the legend DELAWARE ATTAINED STATEHOOD DECEMBER 7, 1787 appears in the field. A ribbon cartouche at the base bears the inscription 1ST STATE, with the Franklin Mint mark visible beneath it.
