Reverse description The reverse displays a circular medallion at the top bearing a sprig of Mountain Laurel surrounded by stars and the legend CONNECTICUT MOUNTAIN LAUREL, flanked by two laurel branches in high relief. Below, the inscriptions CONNECTICUT, ATTAINED STATEHOOD JANUARY 9, 1788 appear in the field, with a scroll at the base bearing 5TH STATE, all within a beaded rim. The Franklin Mint mintmark FM appears at the bottom of the field.
