Obverse description King Christian I of Oldenburg stands to the right in full regalia, holding a sceptre and shield bearing heraldic devices, flanked by two crowned female personifications of Schleswig and Holstein who jointly place their hands upon an open document inscribed 'DER LANDES PRIVILEGIEN' resting on a plinth inscribed 'RIPEN', commemorating the Treaty of Ribe of 1460. A circular legend in Low German surrounds the scene, with the date 'MITTWOCH N.INVOC. 1460' in the exergue.
