Obverse description A relief depiction of a city panorama. In the foreground is the Peter and Paul Fortress, with the island`s dominant feature, the Peter and Paul Cathedral. In the center is the Neva with a ship, which divides into the Bolshaya and Malaya rivers, surrounded by the spit of Vasilievsky Island with its Rostral Columns and the Stock Exchange building. In the background, to the left, is the Winter Palace, which houses the Hermitage Museum; to the right, the spire of the Admiralty and the silhouette of St. Isaac`s Cathedral. Above is the Angel on the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral, the Guardian of the City and one of the main symbols of the Northern Capital. Inscription along the edge of the medal.
