| Obverse description | The obverse depicts a detailed relief view of the São Lourenço Lighthouse complex situated on a rocky coastal promontory at the eastern tip of Madeira Island, with the domed lantern room and metal cross visible atop the tower rising above the main building and annexes, set against a textured sea horizon with clouds in the field. The legend 'MARINHA PORTUGUESA' arcs along the upper rim, while 'FAROL DE S. LOURENÇO' and 'DIRECÇÃO DE FARÓIS' appear in the lower field and along the bottom rim respectively.
