Obverse description The obverse depicts in high relief the monument to Patriarch Nikon of Moscow and All Rus' (1605–1681), shown seated in full patriarchal vestments holding a staff, set against a columned rotunda with a church and trees visible in the background field. Decorative scroll ribbons frame the legend, inscribed in Cyrillic along the upper arc and in a lower scroll banner.

Reverse description The reverse displays in high relief the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Mordovia, featuring the central shield of Saransk flanked by a decorative Mordvin national ornament (Nasharnaya Grivna) forming an oval surround, with wheat ears entwined with a tricolor ribbon on either side, and an eight-pointed star at the apex. The mint mark cartouche appears in the lower right of the field, and the legend curves along the lower rim.
