Reverse description The full armorial achievement of the City of Sydney displayed in high relief at centre, comprising a quartered shield surmounted by a crest of an anchor and foliage, supported on the dexter by a nude Aboriginal figure holding a spear and on the sinister by a European labourer in period dress. A ribbon below bears the motto I TAKE BUT I SURRENDER, with decorative scrollwork and an anchor at the base. The engraver's signature AMOR, SYDNEY appears below the shield, and the date 1920 is prominently struck at the bottom of the field. The commemorative legend curves around the full periphery.
