Obverse description Central depiction of the three-masted polar vessel Fram sailing in relief within the field. The name FRIDTJOF NANSEN is inscribed diagonally across the central field, with SVERDRUP below the ship. The names of all expedition members form a circular legend around the periphery, separated by five-pointed stars.
