| Obverse description | Central design features a large shield bearing the Union flag, surmounted by a lion passant, flanked by sprigs of national flowers to the left and an olive branch to the right. Below the central shield, two subsidiary groups of allied nations' heraldic shields are displayed, with a clasped-hands motif and a ribbon scroll bearing the legend UNITED IN THE CAUSE OF LIBERTY in the lower field.
