| Reverse description | The reverse features a rampant lion in relief at center, derived from the Dutch Leeuwendaalder — the historical ancestor of the Romanian leu — superimposed on a raised relief map of Romania. Surrounding the lion and map are incuse reproductions of six historical Romanian coins arranged in the field: the 1 banu 1867, the 1 leu 1870, two royal-period 1 leu pieces, a 'BUN PENTRU 1 LEU' token-type coin, and a modern 1 leu coin. The year 2023 appears in the lower exergue. |
