Reverse description Richly detailed allegorical scene depicting the return of Napoleon's remains to Paris: an allegorical figure of the City of Paris, draped and crowned, stands at center raising a laurel branch toward a radiant eagle carrying Napoleon's effigy in glory above. To the left, a putto leans against a cippus bearing the imperial 'N'; in the background, the dome of Les Invalides is visible at left and a ship of the line at right, alluding to the transport of the coffin from Saint Helena. Mourning putti and a coffin on a bier appear to the right, with laurel wreaths scattered in the foreground. The engraver's signature MONTAGNY FECIT appears in the exergue tablet at the bottom.
