Obverse description Three-quarter length effigy of Nicolaas Rockox facing slightly right, depicted in early 17th-century costume with a ruff collar, after a sketch by Anthony van Dyck preserved at Windsor Castle. The surrounding legend reads his name and life dates to the left and upper left, and a Latin inscription relating to his role as master of imperial Roman gold coinage to the right, with the year 1615 at the base.
