Obverse description	The central field features a non-canonical relief figure of the Mother of God, depicted covering her face with her hands in grief, with tear drops falling downward against a mirror background set within the outline of a traditional Orans-type icon. The matte background on either side of the figure is rendered with a fragmented, broken pattern symbolizing the destruction of a city, flanked by the legends МІСТО (left) and МАРІЇ (right). At lower left, the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine appears alongside the vertical legend УКРАЇНА, the date 20/23 at lower right, and the mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine in the lower right field.

Reverse description	The central field depicts an aerial perspective view of the Mariupol Drama Theater building in relief, set against a mirror background radiating a starburst pattern evoking an aerial bomb explosion, with crosshair-like lines converging on the structure. The word ДЕТИ appears twice in the field — once in mirror-reversed lettering at upper right and once normally at lower left — referencing the word written on the ground outside the theater as a civilian shelter marker. The curved legend МАРІУПОЛЬСЬКИЙ reads along the upper left periphery, and ДРАМТЕАТР along the lower right periphery.
