Obverse description The central field features a multi-scene composition in relief illustrating the technological and agricultural progress of Lyon County, Minnesota, from its founding to its centennial: a covered wagon drawn by oxen with a pioneer farmstead, a farmer with a plow, a steam locomotive, a jet aircraft in flight, and modern industrial buildings. The circumferential legend arcs along the left and right rim, with the centennial dates in the lower exergue.
