| Obverse description | Front-facing bust of the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões (1524–1580), depicted wearing a ruffled collar and armour, and crowned with a laurel wreath. The name LUÍS DE CAMÕES appears in bold relief to the right of the effigy, with the birth and death dates 1524 and 1580 to the left. The designer's and sculptor's signatures, PAES FERREIRA DEL. and F. COUTO ESC., are incised at the lower left and lower right of the field respectively. |
