Obverse description The obverse depicts two figures in high relief set against a wilderness landscape: a frontiersman in fringed buckskin attire strides forward holding a long rifle at an angle, while a second armed figure stands behind him amid trees and foliage. The date 1775 appears in the lower field, with the legend arcing around the upper rim and the name along the lower rim. The engraver's initials JDL are visible in the lower left field.
