| Obverse description | The obverse depicts in high relief one of the famous sculptural groups from the Anichkov Bridge in Leningrad: a nude youth straining to restrain a powerfully rearing horse, both figures rendered on a stepped pedestal base. The composition closely follows P.K. Klodt's celebrated bronze originals, with dynamic tension expressed between man and animal in a plain, unlettered field. |
