Obverse description A panoramic view of the Neva River with the Admiralty spire and the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral visible along the skyline, with vessels on the water in the lower field. Superimposed above the cityscape is a large relief effigy of Vladimir Lenin in left profile, depicted against a billowing flag or banner. The dates 1703 and 1953 appear in the lower field flanking a laurel sprig, with a five-pointed star separating the two-part legend along the upper periphery.
