Reverse description A detailed depiction of the SS Great Britain under sail and steam, shown broadside to the right on a choppy sea, with a paddle wheel visible amidships and multiple masts with sails set. Above the ship, within an ornate scrollwork frame, a scallop shell appears at the apex with the ship's name in the field below it. In the lower section, a Union Jack shield is displayed centrally within further decorative scrollwork, with technical specifications and the launch inscription arranged in curved legends above and below the central scene.
