Obverse description The field depicts a historical scene commemorating the founding of Kongsberg in April 1624, showing a standing figure in period dress at right, three figures seated on the ground in the middle ground, and conifer trees at left within a landscape setting. The crowned royal monogram of King Christian IV (C4) appears in the upper field, with the legend in two lines across the upper portion and the city name with year in the lower exergue area. A small engraver's initial 'K' is visible at right.

Reverse description The central field features a framed depiction of a historic screw press (coin minting press) in relief, flanked on both sides by ornate decorative scrolling vine and branch motifs with leaves. The legend appears in two lines below a horizontal rule in the lower field, with the crossed hammers mintmark of the Royal Norwegian Mint struck in the exergue beneath.
